Hey Family,

I am doing well, I have to be quick today so I will just mention a few things and try to send you guys a letter this week.

This email will probably be a bunch of random thoughts from this week. First in sunday school this week the teacher was teaching about Joseph in Egypt. Towards the end the speakers in the room we were in started sending in the audio from the other wards sacrament meeting. Haha the teacher looked up and all he said was "Heavenly Father?" It gave me a good laugh. We have a car. We have a new 14 toyota coralla but we also try to walk a lot. This we in the same day we were walking and one car yelled at us "You are of the devil" and another said "The devil loves you!" Haha we just gave them a nice wave. We had the opportunity to take out a brand new missionary for his first time tracking, he did a good job being brand new and all. A member took us out to dinner at pizza hut and we sw the commercial for the new captain america and the new tmnt! It looked awesome! Haha we also caught a glimpse of some awards show and selena gomez was on it! I think i fell in love. Needless to say pizza hut has great pizza. We were ble to set some new baptismal dats with some people this week. We have been working alot with the memebers to better get the work going in our area.

Well I love you guys! I hope you are doing well! Thanks for all you do for me! I hope you guys have a great week! I will be sure to write a letter!

St. Patrick's Day Picture

A mom on the mission facebook page put this picture up that her son sent her asking who everyone in it was.  Scott and his companion, Elder Short, are the two with matching green ties that Elder Short's mother sent them.  Scott of course is doing some sort of fist pump ha ha.

Heya Family,

This week was definitely a slower week for missionary work but it still went well. We had transfers and Elder Short and I are staying together and Elder Nakai and Elder Anderson are staying as well so I am way excited about that. I think this has been one of the best districts on my mission.

Anyway, this week we were walking to go contact some people and on one side of the street there is a housing community and on the other side there is a drop off/hill kinda thingy and a good amount of trees. All the sudden we see this kid trudging up the hill with his bike, out of breath and muttering "ice cream, ice cream..." Haha he asked us if we saw the ice cream truck and we told him which way it went. He just kept on saying "I need ice cream, I need ice cream.." again and again and then evenutally he gave up and went home haha.

We tracked a lot this week and a lot of appointments fell through for us. We had some dinner apointments which was good. Ha it seems like week 6 of the transfer is always a long week, with saturday (the day we get transfer news) being the longest.

Thanks for the updates and emails though. They mean a lot to me. I hope the best for all of you! Have a great week!

Happy Saint Patty's Day! 3/17/2014

Heya Family, Pday has been good so far we got a haircut, we get them free in farmington which is nice, and now we are just emailing. Elder Short's mom sent some saint pattys ties so me and him are rocking some matching patty ties. We are emailing at the college and already got some comments on them. :)

This week was a long but good week. Many ups and downs but overall pretty good. We definitely had some interesting experiences. We found three new investigators and have started teaching them. Some of them seem like they really want to learn so I was pretty excited about that.

This week we were tracking on day and we came to the trailer of an older man and women. The man told us to talk to her wife, which we did. We found out quickly she definitely didn't like the church. She went off about many things. One of the things she said with disgust and utter contempt was, "I don't believe in the celestial kingdom. In the bible it teaches only of a heaven and a hell." These moments are always interesting as missionaries because obviously they aren't interested, but the question is should we say something or not say anything. Sometimes we don't and sometimes we do and sometimes it is hard to tell when we should. We didn't say anything, but looking back I kinda wish we did, not to argue but just to stand up for what I believe. I am guessing that most people, when they hear that we believe in 3 kingdoms of glory: celestial, terrestrial, and telestial, they must think that we get that from the BoM. That teaching isn't found in the bom, the only thing that could relate to that teaching in the book of mormon is the differing times of ressurection. But we find the teaching of three kingdoms of glory in the Bible and the Doctrine and Covenants, which explains those kingdoms in greater detail.

2nd Corinthians 12:2 " aI knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the bbody, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the cthird dheaven."  Usually if there is a third heaven, there is a first and second as well. This teaching is found right in the bible.
1 Corinthians 15:4040 aThere are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the bcelestial is one, and the glory of the cterrestrial isanother.
41 There is one glory of the asun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the bstars: for one star cdiffereth fromanother star in dglory 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown inacorruption; it is raised in incorruption: "   This sctripture talks of the differing glory of bodies at the time of the ressurection. Celestial is the glory of the sun, terrestrial is the glory of the stars, and for the stars as revealed telestial.
So it is hard because sometimes I want to say something, but it usually does no good. And if I did say something I wouldn't ask them to take my word for it, but I would ask them to pray and ask God if it were true. This event kinda lead into the next day when we were tracking and came to a home where a man answered and said they were doing a bible study and invited us in. I was pretty excited for it. We walked in, 3 men sitting at the table and he told us he was Jehovah's Witness. Instead of doing a bible study one of the men started trying to bash in a way, he was super kind and all but it was quite obvious what his intentions were. Usually we wouldn't have even tried to argue, but we decided to stand up for what we believe, especially after what had happened the day before. These last 2 transfers I have learned more about the scriptures than ever before on my mission and elder short knows the scriptures pretty well. So the man pulled out scriptures and we pulled out scriptures. It went a long time and as always it went no where. I guess I learned from that experience even more that arguing goes no where. But that was my experience this past week.
Tell Grandma that I say happy birthday!!! I hope you guys are all doing well. Besides that this week went by just as usually, I made some brownies and cookies this week so that was a nice treat. Transfers are coming up this next week but I am guessing I'll be staying here with Elder Short. I really hope I stay, because I like this area and I really like serving with elder short.

Love you guys! Have a great week!

Heya Family,

It was a long week but we survived it, and some good things happened too. Tell Suz, Kayla, and David I say happy birthday!

We found two new investigators but we weren't able to get anyone out to church. But Sacrament meeting was amazing this week. A couple talked. The Sister talked all about her conversion story, which was amazing, and then her husband talked about how they got married. They had both been married before and both of them didn't really want to be married again. They started going on dates and they would go to the temple. He then talked about that feeling in fast and testimony meeting when the spirit is telling you to bear your testimony and you keep denying it and then eventually the next thing your saying is, "Brothers and Sisters, I'd like to..." haha and he said the same thing happened in the temple to him. He was sitting there and the spirit said ask her to marry you. He was like nooooo waaayy. He kept on denying it and then eventually the words just came right out, "Will you marry me?" haha and that is how they ended up getting married. Overall it was just a great day at church.

Well I love you family and hope you guys have a great week!

Heya Wonderful Family!

Happy Birthday Jenn!!! Hope you have a good birthday!

I had a great week. Things are going well here in 4th Ward. I am liking the area and the ward and the other elders I am serving around.

I got p90x on monday and did the first one monday night and did it all last week with Elder Short. Haha we are on day 8 I think so we are both stoked about that. We are both trying to eat a little better so we will see how that goes. I feel a lot better now that I am working out. Everything seems easier.

This week I went on exchanges with the zone leaders to Farm 2nd Ward and also on another exchange to Farm 3rd Ward. They both went well, I like all the missionaries in out zone.

I have said I would send pictures a bunch of times and I always forget the camara haha fail. I am sorry, maybe next week there will be some pictures. :) I am glad to hear you joined that group on facebook and that Jess Klain sent you all those pictures! Tell her I say hi and also tell her that I say hi to "shima". They are an awesome family and talked to them a lot in Page.

Sounds like it was good having the missionaries over. I am sure they greatly appreciated it. I think I told this to you guys before but we cover the more southside/west part of the ward and Elder Nakai and Anderson cover the more northeast side of the ward. We had a dinner apartment yesterday with a family and they had all four of us over.. (Yes four super hungry elders) and for the dinner message they gave us each a random object and we had to relate to the gospel (I was kinda nervous cuz I am terrible at these types of games) but I ended up with ziplock bags and the first thing I thought of was left overs (because of course I love food) and I Kinda related it to 2nd Nephi 32:3 and how food goes bad eventually, but how the "words of christ" never go bad. So even though it is wonderful to "feast" upon delicious food, we need to "feast upon the words of Christ" because they never change. Haha I think it worked out alright.

Well Happy Birthday Jenn! I love you guys all a ton and hope life is treating you really well. Best of luck with all the work, tests, and everything else this week. I hope it is a good one for you!
